The story
What happens when we look again at what we've rejected?
Out of the Bin is an interactive, visually led theatre performance that transforms discarded rubbish into movement and art. Blending physical theatre, object manipulation and audience participation, the performance explores the hidden stories behind everyday waste. While rubbish is produced endlessly and often ignored, for some people a bin becomes a place of survival and an unexpected source of hope. Through playful encounters with discarded objects, the piece reveals moments of resilience, humour and humanity.
As rubbish is transformed into something beautiful and meaningful, Out of the Bin asks what happens when something — or someone — that society has discarded suddenly becomes valuable, and what that reveals about our ideas of worth, belonging and human dignity.
Set against the backdrop of overconsumption, the work offers a warm, hopeful and non-judgmental reflection on care and community. An optional creative workshop after the performance invites audiences to transform discarded materials into something new.

Out of the Bin was also a Brighton Fringe Bursary Winner 2026, which supported its premiere at the Rotunda Theatre.

Around every run of Out of the Bin we offer hands-on workshops and community activities that carry the show's spirit into the room — transforming household waste into handcrafted art objects.
